LNGCON 2025 addressing the LNG adoption at the maritime sector

With around 350 decision-makers from leading gas companies, shipping, ports and infrastructure sectors, LNGCON 2025 aims to foster discussions about strategies for increasing LNG bunkering adoption, developing necessary infrastructure and integrating bio-LNG. Among the participants are major industry players such as Shell, TotalEnergies, Eni, bp, Engie, Snam, ADNOC, Pertamina and others.

The 11th International LNG Congress, taking place in Milan on 10-12 March 2025, brings together global LNG companies to discuss the use of LNG as marine fuel. As the maritime industry works to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition to more sustainable energy sources, LNG and bio-LNG have been identified as practical alternatives to traditional marine fuels.

However, the adoption of LNG presents several challenges, including the need for infrastructure development, operational adjustments and scalability on a global level. To address these topics, LNGCON 2025 includes a dedicated roundtable session, focused on the strategic, technical and operational aspects of integrating LNG into maritime activities.

The session is structured to facilitate an exchange of opinions: each speaker delivers a focused presentation addressing a specific challenge or advancement, followed by an open question-and-answer period. A concluding discussion provides an opportunity for participants to explore these issues in depth, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the subject.

The session features a distinguished list of speakers:

David Wendel, Managing Director at ETS Group, shares insights on the processes involved in mobile degassing of LNG bunker vessels prior to shipyard operations and cooling down procedures following shipyard activities at the Port of Amsterdam;

Jippe van Eijnatten, Director of Business Development at Titan Clean Fuels, focuses on the global expansion of LNG bunkering services, offering insights into overcoming logistical and operational challenges;

Antonio Miranda Bonet, Head of LNG Bunkering at Naturgy, discusses guidelines for conducting alternative fuel bunkering operations using truck-based systems, with a focus on safety and operational efficiency;

Jan Schubert, Commercial Director at Avenir LNG, provides an analysis of the role of LNG and bio-LNG as marine fuels, underscoring their importance in the transition to sustainable shipping.

The roundtable session at LNGCON 2025 emphasise the industry’s orientation to innovation and operational excellence, fostering a dialogue among LNG and maritime sectors.

As a networking platform, the Congress brings together participants from all segments of the value chain to address sustainable infrastructure and energy security issues.
